Thank You God For These Feet Of Mine.
I took my shower this morning and dried my feet. Just the usual. But as I was sitting, putting my socks on, I thought about these feet. These feet that have carried me across Spain just recently. In fact they have walked me all around the world, from the UK to NZ to India and Europe. I ponder this fact. So many kilometers, these feet have walked. I touch my left foot, the sore one. I’ve not been exercising for a few days to rest my feet and heal my ankle. I rub my feet and thank God for them. For the places they have taken me, for the things they have allowed me to see. The mountains I have climbed and seen because of these feet.
What is the invitation from God as I notice my feet today?
Well God, they ground me, just like you. They ground me to the earth, to the original Bible to nature. They let me feel the amazing world that you created. They put me in fields of sunflowers, they take me to salt mines deep underground. They allow me to climb mountains and walk with my friends and family. All things that you created for me to see, and do and wonder over.
‘The slower you go the more you will notice’ encourages us to move in an unhurried pace. To absorb all the beauty around, and I like that. Next time I walk, I’ll try to remember that.
How about you today? Its so easy to live this fast paced life. I can get lost for hours scrolling and not even concern myself with the world going on around me. I’m wondering if that resonates with you too?
Take some time today to stop. Maybe you could thank God for your feet! Maybe you need to ask God what parts of you that you need to notice and take some time to focus on the blessings of those parts. For some it might be a physical part like my feet, but for others it may be for their thinking and planning parts of them that can see a whole series of events and put them together to do something special or out of the ordinary.
Sit in a silent space for just a few minutes and wonder and be.
